ABOUT THE DOCTORS
Gary Lai, O.D. is a San Francisco native. After receiving his undergraduate degree with a B.A in
Physiology from University of California Berkeley, he continued on and received his doctorate from the
School of Optometry at U.C. Berkeley. With more than 20 years of experience, he has worked at
University of California San Francisco, the Veterans Affairs Hospitals in Sacramento and Oakland,
and the Omni Eye Specialists in Denver. Before starting this new practice, he was the full-time staff
doctor in a busy San Mateo group practice for 5 years. Dr. Lai is a member of the California and
American Optometric Associations. He enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding and skiing. He loves
the mountains and photographing them, summitting many peaks in the Sierras and Colorado.
Sharon Ho, O.D., F.A.A.O., also attended UC Berkeley as an undergraduate, with a B.A. in Molecular
Cell Biology. After receiving her doctorate from Southern California College of Optometry, Dr. Ho
spent an extra year of residency concentrating in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the prestigious
Jules Stein Eye Institute at University of California Los Angeles. She then went on to earn her
distinction in becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (F.A.A.O). Dr. Ho has
practiced in various specialty pediatric ophthalmology offices. Her passion is contact lenses of all
types. On her spare time, she enjoys cooking and travelling. Her daughter, Dana and son, Nick are
the love of her life.
All the doctors are Board Certified Optometrists with privileges to prescribe therapeutic pharmaceutical
agents. This is the highest level of achievement optometrists can attain allowing the doctors to treat
eye infections and perform certain ocular procedures.
ABOUT THE STAFF
Mitch Nagtalon, ABOC, started his optical career in the early 90's as an optometric assistant. With a
strong medical background and passion for optics, he has worked with multiple pediatirc, retinal,
general ophthalmology and optometry clinics in the past 20 years. Certified by the American Board
of Opticianry, he has worked closely with labs and maufacturers like Oakley to push the boundaries
of prescription lens technology, giving patients more options. Filipino native, Mitch loves cooking,
the outdoors, video games, the 80's, plays the guitar and keyboard and travelling with his wife Anna
and son Timothy.
Marcia Holmes is a San Francisco native, growing up on the peninsula. She has worked with
ophthalmologists and optometrists for many years. Marcia has always had passion for extraordinary
patient care. She has lived as far away as Fairbanks Alaska and San Diego California, but has
always come back to San Francisco Bay Area to family and friends. She has a home in the country
where she enjoys photography and ceramics.
Sebrina Wong, ABOC, NCLE - Optical Manager
Sebrina is a Bay Area native who began her career as an optician in 2010 in San Francisco. Her
career aspirations sent her to Arizona where she worked at an ophthalmology office while she
studied and earned her ABO and NCLE certifications. Sebrina exemplifies service to others, both
with patients and among her colleagues. When she isn't helping others, she likes to cheer on the
SF Giants and spend time outdoors with her dog, Tucker. They love to camp, fish, and hike together.
Quyen Nguyen has been an Optician for 10 years now. She strives to give patients excellent service
and always look for ways to go the extra mile. Her happiness primarily comes from making people
around her happy, not just her friends and family but new acquaintances as well. Her easy-going
mannerism with her warm personality is enjoyed by the patients she helps. She enjoys dining out,
travelling, singing and speaks fluent Vietnamese.
Eddy Xu, ABOC, was born and raised in New York City and recently moved to the Bay Area for a
change of pace. He has been in the optical field for over 10 years and still very passionate about it.
He has worked at two other offices in NYC and now using his experience to assist Californians see.
Helping others see the world clearly is what motivates him to keep doing what he does, giving the
gift of sight. When not working, he is an avid cyclist and love being outdoors. He is also a huge
sports fan rooting for the Yankees, Knicks, Giants and the Warriors!
Annie Yang is primarily found in the lab cutting lenses or the back office billing insurances.
Whenever she finds her way to the front of the office, she always greets patients with a bright and
open smile.Though English is her main language, she can also speak Mandarin Chinese. In her
free time, she enjoys anything and everything artsy, researching facts and trivia about various
cultures, or reading science articles about recent discoveries and breakthroughs. Her idea of
relaxing on the weekends is settling down with a hot cup of milk tea and her Kindle for PC, playing
YouTube covers as background music.
Alyssa Cajbon was born and raised here in San Mateo. While maintaining organization around the
practice as an office aid, she is also currently a student at California State University, East Bay with
ambitions of becoming a nurse. When she is not in the office or attending class, she enjoys painting
and volunteering at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital.
Teresa Wu, O.D. grew up in sunny Southern California but left the sandy beaches to attend the
University of California, Berkeley, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology with a
Minor in Education. She continued her studies at U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry where she
received her Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Wu has extensive training in optometric care including
professional internships at the VA Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington, The Omni Eye Services
in New Jersey, and Castle Family Health Eye Clinic in Atwater, California.
Dr. Wu is dedicated to providing excellent care to her patients with comprehensive eye exams, contact
lens fittings and ocular disease management of conditions including ocular infections, glaucoma,
macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, allergies, and dry eyes.
Dr. Wu is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association,
and the San Mateo County Optometric Society. She is fully licensed by the California State Board of
Optometry and is certified in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic agents as well as glaucoma
